The process of writing is hard work. Teaching writing, and helping students believe in themselves as writers, is even harder. Join Lisa Helsel, 2023 recipient of the NCTE Donald H. Graves Award for Excellence in Teaching Writing, as she shares ideas for connecting deeply with student writers and for helping them become aware of their own writing processes. Participants will walk away with assessment and reflection activities that can be used in classrooms across the grade levels.
