Co-teaching is a collaborative approach to instruction in which two teachers, typically a general education teacher and a MLP or SPED teacher, work together to plan and then implement instruction for a class. This PD session will focus on effective collaborative teaching practices in a US History classroom for multi-language learners as well as students with disabilities. While the focus is US History content, the application can be applied to different content courses.

It's Free Write Friday! My weekly writing routine allows students to write whatever they want and to have their writings celebrated! Participants will write freely as students before learning how to impact their own classroom communities. I will provide examples of student writing and share the details of what makes it an impactful and effective use of precious class time. Graves Award for Excellence in Teaching Writing, as she shares ideas for connecting deeply with student writers and for helping them become aware of their own writing processes. Participants will walk away with assessment and reflection activities that can be used in classrooms across the grade levels.
